PROJECT 3.
BALL MARKERS.

0611(2).gif

I come from several generations of golfers and makers who’ve passed down not only their passion for early rounds but also old tools, each serial number hand stamped on the side, darkened with decades worth of patina. I’ve always loved the story this little detail told, and my appreciation for the texture, look and longevity of the form has only grown after seeing my great grandfather’s hand stamped WWI dog tags among the family knick knacks.

Making my own ball markers has been on the cards even before I’ve created Low Draw, and with brass being one of my favourite materials because of its finish and patina, with copper coming in close second, this project was a no-brainer. Each ball marker is hand punched and stamped at my home studio in Ōtautahi, unique in its imperfection. Since I prefer my ball markers on a smaller side, they measure at 1inch (2 5mm) diameter and 1mm thickness, and look better after every use due to natural darkening of the material.
